What Is Mindfulness?
What Is Mindfulness?
Put simply, Mindfulness is the practice of learning to pay very close attention to 1 thing at a time. Through meditation practice (and other, similar activities), we train ourselves to focus.

Why do we do this? Well, Mindfulness has been shown to have a whole host of benefits. Clinical studies back up the experience of Mindfulness practitioners and show that these benefits often include:
-
A lowering of blood pressure and resting heart rate
-
Stress-reduction, showing up as a lowering of cortisol levels
-
Better sleep
It's harder to measure, but Mindfulness has also been shown to increase patience and creativity, and to help with focus in other activities.
What Is Jewish Mindfulness?
All forms of Mindfulness are valuable, and the secular Mindfulness pioneered by Jon Kabat-Zinn has profound benefits, all of which are shared by Jewish Mindfulness.

Jewish Mindfulness builds on that practice by adding a spiritual layer, and a specifically Jewish one, at that. By coming to Mindfulness through our Jewish tradition, we also explore the possibility of a deepening of our spiritual lives. We can become more aware of the holiness which surrounds us constantly, of our connection to God, and of our inherent nature as having been created Betzelem Elohim, in God’s image.
